I am excited for our festival run and could not wish for a better way to conclude my studies at UCLA Extension!
Hello there! I have been quite inactive with new photography work, because I moved to Los Angeles to attend a Directing program at the American Film Institute Conservatory for the last year. I blogged about my experience in my “Hollywood Blog“! I will continue to write about my experiences in Los Angeles, so stay tuned! You can access it under the “Blog” section!
Due to my frequent collaboration with the August Everding Theatre Academy in Munich, I get to work with ingeniously made-up characters. This time, I got to make pictures of the water nymph “Woglinde, daughter of the river Rhine” , designed by theatre academy student Carolin Schirmer after the German “Nibelungen” myth.
Working with such visionary talents always boosts my creativity! A big thank you goes to model Frauke, who withstood the rain and the low temperatures (10 degrees celsius) by the river – being almost naked! Let’s take a bow to such discipline and quickly check out the new material in the “Fashion” section!
For the new spring collections from different designers, I was assigned to make pictures for the fashion store Echter in Weilheim. This year, they had dancers who rocked the runway! You can see the official photographs on the blog from the fashion Store Echter.
Thanks to the models Svetlana, Nicolette and Kate! You can find my personal chioce of pictures in the Editorial section! Eye candy!
as I was interviewing at a film school in Los Angeles in March, I traveled to California and had a great time exploring the city and Venice Beach! Check out my personal pics from my travel in the Personal Work section!
To give you some insight in my feature film experience, you can find a brand new short film showreel displaying projects I wrote and directed for the last ten years. The reel includes excerpts of my bachelor’s thesis “Moonlit Night” (2012), the award-winning mutism short film “Silently Dumb” (2007), and last but not least the teenage comedies “Tutoring squared” (2006) and “Love per mouse click” (2004). You find the reel in the film section as well as on Vimeo.
for a film school application, I visualized the tale “The Red Shoes” from Hans-Christian Andersen in a historical photo strip. You find the whole collection of pictures and my adapted short story in the Personal Work section. I want to thank the dancer Steffanie Helmchen, who embodied Karen, Sybille Schaller who was responsible for Hair and Make-Up and Sarah Silbermann, who did a wonderful job with the historical styling!
I was honored to be exclusive Making-Of photographer at a small and cosy, but very professional fashion show in my home town a few weeks ago. It was so much fun backstage, as you can see on the pictures and I even got some glamorous glimpses of the show! But see for yourself in the Editorial gallery! You might even discover a topmodel if you risk a closer look!
In their August/September issue, the magazine “Film&TV Kameramann” (“Film & TV DoP“), that adresses mostly film-making professionals, wrote a review for “Moonlit Night”. The team was very happy to receive the praise. They describe the film as follows:
„A journey to the past on two different levels that are intertwined: Natalie’s fictional story about her difficult childhood and the poetry of Joseph von Eichendorff that appears, personified, in the present to help her. A beautiful basic constellation that, within the short limits of ten minutes, alludes to everything you ought to know to follow the fable and is moreover appealing for a longer version.” – Karl Heil in “Film & TV Kameramann” 9/2012
For everyone who wants to see the film for the first or a second time, the next opportunity to do so is at the fith “Dießener Kurzfilm Festival” (“Dießen’s Short Film Festival”), in the same city where we shot the temple-scenes. More information about the festival schedule will be available in Oktober.
Today I reviewed the pictures I took during my New York visit and decided to share them with you on my Personal Work page. I want to thank my tutor Mr. Demuth for helping me sort out the right pictures and the journalist Felix Scheidl, who accompanied me on the trip.
I’ve been a fan of romantic pantings for quite a while and was very happy to work with make-up-artist Sybille Schaller on a Romanticism-Project. During her study at the Bavarian theatre academy “August Everding”, she designed masks in the romantic style after the english horror tale “Melmoth the Wanderer” from 1820. A big thank you to model Sascha for mimicking Melmoth and model Julia who transformed into Immalee. Check out the photos in the Beauty gallery! =)
Spring is all around and summer not far away! So I bring you a new fashion-strip with summer feeling that is called “Sleeping Beauty”. You can find the whole strip in the Fashion gallery!
